My year 2019

This year 2019 would be one of my favourite years, I made new friends, sadly my nan died but over all I think that 2019 was my favourite year. I came first in altheletics and almost broke my leg, I am apart of the Kia manawanui syndicate and I have five really good friends of mine.

I loved all the sports tournaments that we went to and won.

I am now going to graduate from Tamaki Primary School and there is also Dine and Dance, I will sadly be leaving Tamaki Primary School and go to college.

But I have had a really great year this year.

Day four activity one leading charge

Day four activity one Leading charge
What I would change and add to our school if I was principle, if I was the principle of our school I would add a pool so we can swim in it when it's hot in summer and then close it up in winter. On thing I would change about our school is having to start school at 10:00pm because it stresses kids out when we have to wake up early and also so our brains can function better.

Another thing I would add to our school is to let our students who have a tamaki netbook take there netbooks home so they can finish there work of at home. Something I would like to change about our school is the trips we go to that is in our area it's is free!

Something I would also change about our school is to have a longer Morning tea time and Lunch time.

Atheletics Day

Atheletics Day
It was a really great day on Atheletics day, I came first in the first race that I was in and then in the second run I came fourth, As I am in Benghazi I was the fastest girl in our team house. I wasn't able to do the last run for the 400 metre run because I was too tired to do it. Althought apart from that it was a really great day at atheletics.

On morning tea and lunch time we were allowed to buy sausages sizzles and ice blocks. What I enjoyed about the atheletics day is when I came first and when my house group won for our chants.

Here is a photo of my house group

Fake or Real photo!

Fake or Real photo!
WALT: Alter a photo and make it look as fake as possible!
This week we had to alter a photo and try and make it as fake as possible, here is the photo that me and my friend altered, obivously it looks really fake but it is an example of what a fake altered photo looks like.

The story behind this photo is that it is a half dinosaur half cat that has a gucci pouch and a gold chain and wings on it. And it lives in the woods but nobody has seen it before. A camera crew has set up some cameras in the woods and has spotted this myical creature.

Obviously this would be fake is because dinosaur are creatures that don't exist and why would there be a half dinosaur and half cat with a gucci pouch, wings and a gold chain.

Is seeing, believing

Is seeing, believing?
WALA: What is real and what is fake!

This weeks cybersmart we have been learning about what image is real and what is fake, for this task we had to create a image that looks fake. In one of these slides it shows one of the fake images.

We had to try and figure what the word alter means and why that alter the photos and videos. Here in some of the slides we had to figure what photo was altered and why it was altered.

In some of these slides we had to write down what photo was the most obvious and less obvious photo thats has been altered.

Local elections

Research on Local government elections
WALHT:Use structural language devices
On 19th 1893 of september New Zealand became the first country to let a woman vote in elections. The voting rights for women began in the late 29th century. The lady named Kate Sheppard was the first lady to be prominent leader of the government in New Zealand. It wasn’t just the women who had to fight for the right of voting, it was also Maori men and European men who also refused voting rights.
Kate Sheppard gave women the power to campaign there rights. Kate Sheppard was obtaining the largest petition ever and presented it to the parliament with nearly 32,000 signatures.

Mince Wrap

Mince Wrap
Today in Technology we made mince wraps, the first is to dice the onions and fry it with the mince that's in the frying pan. When I was dicing the onions I cut my finger put it wasn't that bad.

The next was to add 2 tbsp of flour and 1/2 a cup of hot water and stir for 5 minutes, then you add it to your mince and once it boils bring it off the heat and add into the pastry.

Cut into equal pieces for the pastry and fill the bottom sheet with mince. Close the mince up with the top sheet and seal the edges with a fork. bake for 20 minutes and it should be done.

Mini Quiche

Mini Quiche
Today in Technology we made mini Quiche, I was so excited for technology because I love to cook and I also like eating Quiches.

The first step was to preheat the oven to 180 degrees and to put it on bake, The next step was to combine 4 eggs, 1 cup of milk, ham and cheese togther and then mix it all together.

Step 2 was to cut the pastry into 12 circle, but before we did that was brushed the baking tray with oil and then we put the pastrys in side of the baking tray. Once we did that we scooped all of our egg mixture into the baking tray and then we put it in the oven to bake for around about 10 to 20 mins.

While the Mini Quiche was cooking we just cleaned the table then did the dishes we also dried them and wiped down the bench and now I am blogging this. Once the Mini Quiche is all cooked you can serve it and then enjoy.

Peace activist

Peace activist
Today I have made a slide about a famous peace activist who promoted to world peace, and the person who I picked is and lady called Aung san suu kyi and what she said to make the world a better place were: It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it, The only real prison is fear.

And the only real freedom is freedom from fear and Human beings the world over need freedom and security that they may be able to realize their full potential.

Manaiakalani Survey

Manaiakalani Survey

Today, in Cybersmart Mr Janse sent us a link to access a Manaiakalani survey that we had to complete. In the survey, we had to answer questions about our learning thus far in 2019. One of the questions that I felt challenging was how the " Learn Create Share" has helped my family know more about my learning. This is because at first when I read the question it didn't make sense to me. Then Mrs Collins read it out and then it made sense. I think the rest of the questions were easy.

Here is a screenshot of the Manaiakalani Survey!
The survey included the school you attend, year group, gender and other things to do with LEARN CREATE AND SHARE. As we have to use our netbooks to go onto surveys and our work I think that every school and college should use netbooks because it is more efficient and easier to get on to your work plus most schools and colleges don't use Netbooks.

This survey came just at the right time for me as it got me to reflect on my learning and the processes involved. It also gave me the opportunity to engage with the Wolf Fisher Organisation in a meaningful manner. Hopefully the responses from the Kia Manawanui Syndicate is useful and looking forward to seeing what the data shows. I really like the fact that students are included in your process. I feel proud to be a part of this cohort in the Panmure District!

What does peace mean?

What does peace mean?
Today we had to put some pictures in order then we had to describe what they mean, here is a one about peace, this describes the things about peace and what involves peace. In the middle I have written a little meaning of what peace means and what it means to me and others who show peace to people.

Also we had to write three words that describes peace is, Help, Generosity and Courage.

Peace collage

Peace collage
Here is my collage about peace, here shows pictures of the symbols that represent peace, in my opinion this is what I think peace is and these are the symbols that are related to peace. Where it says from war to peace it means that when it was the wars there was not any peace at the time, but people stood up and promoted to peace and our world now has peace.

But as the years have gone by people have started to stop using peace and started to fight and being conflict to other people.

Peace

Peace
Today Mr J gave a quest to write the meaning of peace and what words mean to peace, here I added some symbols of peace and what they represent it. This is what I think of peace. The reason why I chose these words is because happiness is what the world needs in this world also courage generosity and love to others.

End of the Term reflection

End Of The Term Reflection
IALT: Write a reflection about this term
This term was crazy, we had a lot of fun adventures this term like the sleepover/team building, Fa'afiu leaving, new students and student leaders. Wow it was just incredible. The most fun thing that I enjoyed would be the Sleepover when we had to go to the Pools and do team building stuff and when we slept over at school. Another thing that happened was the Cricket and Volleyball tournament, I really liked it but unfortunately I did not go. Another thing I enjoyed was making ANZAC biscuits

The whole point of doing team building is to build positive friendships with each other and also to bond with each other. Also it was for our class to get to know each other.

I wish that next term will be even better than this term and that we get to do more fun things nex term.

Hard Materials

Hard Materials
Today in Hard Materials I am on the part how I am making my
wood works, as if you guys don't know what I am making, I am making a wooden Piano. The part that I am working on are my joints, the reason why we do joints is because so they have a good fit and they won't break. Then we had to make sure that our piece of wood would fit into the joint. If the piece of wood fitted into the joint we had to do the other part of the joint.

Image result for technology wood worksOnce you are finished doing your joints it is time to move on with gluing the parts together and to wait for them to dry out. Then it was now time to pack to go back to our school. This was our last day of Technology put after the school we will be having four more weeks to complete what we are doing in Hard Materials.

Animal Town

Animal Town
Just Imagine a Mysterious place named Animal town, There was a place for animals to be free. As we are driving and I can hear sounds like an Elephant and a Lion Roaring like it was the king of the Village. “I see Animal town” I said to my parents, “Wow it really is Animal Town” Said Dad. When we got there it was filled with wonderest animals, some we have seen and some we haven’t seen, My heart filled up with joy. There was birds flying everywhere, it was like a dream.

As I got out of the car I see Gorillas eating food like they were waiting for this moment there whole life and Birds chirping away. I see Zebra’s, Giraffes, Gorilla’s, Bear’s and other wonderest animals. As I am a big fan of Animals it is like a dream come true.

Poetic Writing

Poetic Writing
Kia ora in the kia manawanui syndicate did a poem about natural disasters my natural disaster was Tsunamis, I chose Tsunamis because I felt that it would of had a lot of effect to it and it would interesting to see other people's opinions when they are reading it. I also think that it is great to see people get inspired by it.

Abstract Art

WAL:How to make something abstract
In the Kia manawanui syndicate, we learnt about what abstract art is and we have to pick a image to do between a smartphone, Computer and the PSVita that was on the screen.

With the image that we chose between those images we had to add colour that represents the object that we had chosen to make it more abstract and we also had to angle the picture out to make it more abstract as well.

Inquiry Why were Mobile Phones invented

 Why were Mobile Phones invented?
IALT:Figure out why Mobile phones were invented?
Why were phones invented, well phones were invented because people were getting bored and people weren't entertained. So that is why people invented phones, the first phone that was invented on March 10, 1876 and it was made by Alexander Graham Bell and he won the first U.S. patent for the device in 1876.

Forming Opinions

Forming Opinions
WALA: The importance of forming a opinion/having a opinion.
Today in the Kia manawanui syndicate we had to have a debate, about statements and to make sure that we state a reason why we agreed or disagreed with that statements. I found that it was hard to debate with some of the other students because they would state there reason and it would be harder to reply back because of the words they said.

As we were debating we had to persuade people to agree with our statement. And when we were discussing our opinions we had a little debate between our little group and it was really confusing for me too. one of the statements that we got was about allowing to drive at the age of 10 years old. And I disagreed with this statement because some people at the age of 10 wouldn't be able to drive because of there age and there height, and there only children.

But the one that I really debated on was There should be no school rules, with this statement I disagreed because people would throw rubbish everywhere and our school would get polluted

Cybersmart
WALT: Write on our buddy classes from around New Zealand.
Today in the Kia Manawanui syndicate we had to opportunity to comment on our buddy classes from around New Zealand when Ms Collins came in the classroom she talked to us about what the three main points of being a quality blog commenter. The three main points are Positive, Helpful and Thoughtful.

We got to work on two classes and there is one school in Greymouth and another School in Christchurch. The names of the two schools are Marshland School and Awahono School. I thought that it was a good idea to interact with other schools and to get to know there school. And I think that we will be good working with one and another.
I am looking forward to seeing the other schools blogs.

Here is my comment on Marshland School:

Hi my name is Carra and I am a year 8 student who attends Tamaki Primary school. I really liked how you supported Christchurch is was really amazing.. You guys is so cool and the effect is great. And when you are doing Maths it looks really interesting but as we don’t do this it would be better if you showed us how to work those problems out.

Keep up the great work!!!

Why does the Earth need an atomsphere

Why does the Earth need an atmosphere?
The Atmosphere is made up gases such as oxygen and Nitrogen that wraps around
the Earth like a blanket. Our air is made up of 79% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen,
The Earth's has five layers of the atmosphere exosphere, the thermosphere,
the mesosphere, the stratosphere and the troposphere. For example the thermosphere
is the lowest a layer of the atmosphere. And if we never had an Atmosphere we would
die from the sun's atmosphere. As the Thermosphere extends you will come to the
Stratosphere.

Then it will come to the Mesosphere and extends to 85 kilometers which is 53 miles high.
The temperature goes down to minus 93 degrees celsius so that is why the meteorites burn
up while entering the atmosphere. The Thermosphere just starts above the Mesosphere and
extends 600 kilometers and 372 mile high.

My Message of support for Christchurch

My Message support for Christchurch
Today in the Kia Manawanui syndicate we had to make a supported quote for christchurch. this is a sad moment because many people in Christchurch died by three gunman but this is very sad for New Zealand. Below is my Quote that I have written and it is about the struggles and defeating people.

We are a strong minded Country and we didn't need all this trouble. Now on the 15th of March it is a international day and it is called the Darkest days.

The word for today is... Century

The word for today is... Century
The word for today is Century and Century means that it is over thousands of years and that many years ago that's when the old people like our Grandma's and Grandpa's were alive. and also that were the time when the Maoris came to New Zealand.

Kuri

Kuri
IALT: Write about a book called Kuri.
This week I have been reading a journal called Kuri by Priscilla Wehi, A key idea in the text is Extinction. An example of Extinction is that many years ago the kuri were alive but these days we don't have anymore Kuri because some have died because their owners would killed to eat them or they would just die of starvation.

Another key idea that I have read in the text is Kuri's disappearing. An example of Kuri's disappearing is that some of the Kuri were disappearing and it was because some of the Kuri were dying, or some of the Kuri would run away. Another reason is when the pakeha arrived the Kuri would breed with the Dogs that the Pakeha came with they were wild and farmers didn't like the puppys running wild and killing their sheep.

So they would often be shot, but the Kuri were disappearing before the Pakeha came.

Before reading Secret breakers

Before reading Secret breakers
Hi my name is Carra and I am going to read a book called Secret breakers. I am going to be talking to you about the prediction of the book that I am going to be reading. The prediction about the book is that a brotherhood linked through centuries since king arthur’s time. What legendary secret does it protect? And will it lead team veritas to the truth hidden in the coded manuscript no one can read?
Image result for secret breakers the knights of neustria
Something that is confusing about the book that I am reading is that it says something about the legendary secret and something about it protecting. And I need to read about this book to understand the meaning of the legendary secret. And these people called Brodie, Hunter and Tusia are continuing on a trail of the most mysterious code in the world?

to be continued. . .

My Role Model

My Role Model
WALT:Express our Role Model through words.
Who is my Role Model?
Well my Role Model is My Nana Tania. She is Hardworking, Thoughtful and Unique.
I am going to write why she is those things and why I chose those things about her.

My Nan is Hardworking when going to work and at home,
Thoughtful when I comes to me and my cousins by feeding us and taking care of us.
And also she is very Unique because shes makes things not the same way as others and
she is
committed in everything.
For example she is always cooks for us and makes the best Jam.
And she puts Hardwork in her garden
outside and in her plants.

My Nan is very Hardworking when it comes towards My siblings, me and my cousins,
because we are her only grandchildren and she wants to spend as much time as she can
towards us.
An example is that she Hardworking is that she puts a lot of effort into everything and
she makes sure that everything is in the right place and everything is perfect.
My Nan will always be my role model and Hardworking at all times.

Thoughtful is one of her characteristics and she always inspires me and she is thoughtful
by Making me food all the time.
She helps me every time I am stuck on something and she makes
sure she me and my family happy all the time.
Examples of her being Thoughtful are when I am baking she will come in and she will help
if I was stuck on it or I mucked it up.
She also will help me clean up if was trying to clean up. She is favourite role model.

My Learning Pathway

My Learning Pathway
WALT:Write our goals for 2019
Today in the Kia Manawanui syndicate we have been learning how to write our goals for 2019. here are my goals for 2019 and I hope to accomplish all my goals by the end of the year. One of my goals that I wish to accomplish by the end of the year is to be more confident while speaking in front of an audience. I chose this one because I can get really shy when I am presenting and I wish to accomplish it.

Maths

Maths
WALT: Multiply big numbers.
Today in room 9 we had a lesson of Maths, We were learning how to Multiply big numbers such as twelve times fourteen. The way we had to do it was we had to go 12 times 10, then we would go 12 times 4. Then you would plus both answers together and that is what the answer would be. I felt that the Maths session was a bit hard, because I would always get confused and then I wouldn't catch up with the class. I managed to accomplish this because I was on task and I was not talking to my friends.
Image result for maths

I feel like I need to improve on my Maths because some Maths questions were hard for me to understand. I also need more time to improve on this as well. I enjoyed Maths I hope we do it every time.
