Blog For 2018

Blog for 2018
WALT: Reflect about 2018
This year has been great, I really liked Camp Raglan, Athletics day and others. Over the years I have made a lot of friends and I also have build some confidence during this year when we went to Camp Raglan, Camp Raglan has helped lot of because to work in a team and to become way more confident.

Three words that I could describe this year is Fantastic, Crazy and Fun. It is Fantastic because I have made a lot of friends, Crazy because this class can go Crazy sometimes, and fun because I enjoyed this year and going on trips was the best. Holidays are gonna be better mostly because I can sleep, eat, and not do any work.

Also at Term 3 or 4 Me and My best friend earned a achievement of a badge and it is a Manaakitanga badge, I was so happy that I earned it too. I have discovered lots about my like confidence it has changed me a lot through the year. A new skill that I have learnt this year is that I am able to bond with other people and I can think peer and share with people too.

5 people that I have enjoyed spending time with this year was are Coralee, Akih, Fa'afiu, Kensington and Taonga. Because I had a lot with them until Taonga left this school. The person who was my positive impact this year was My Best Friend Coralee because she was here all year and she was helpful to me and she helped me with my work too, She made sure I was happy and not left out too.

Dine and Dance

Dine and Dance
Yesterday in the Kia Manawanui Syndicate we had a Dine and Dance because it was the year 8's last year at intermediate, and we wanted to celebrate it. So the Year 8's had to come to the Dine and Dance at 6:00pm so they could do the dining part which is eating, and the Year 7's had to come at 7:30 to do the Dancing part of the evening.

It was fun for me and my friends Coralee and Fa'afiu because we were all Dancing and just having a lot of fun there. When I got home I was really tired too, I'd really like it if we had another Dine and Dance with the Year 8's because it was fun. Now next year we are going to be having a Dine and Dance with the Year 6's which are going to be Year 7's next year.

Critically Analysing Images

Critically Analysing Images
WALT: Critically Analyze Images.

Today in class today Miss Aireen gave us some questions and three images, we had to write about it and also we are going to critically think about it the answers that we are going to write. The image that I picked contains a boy that is jumped from one figure to another. And here are my questions too.

I also answered these question personally because I felt like I wanted to as well, and I also liked this image too.
 Close up picture

Who took the photo? I think the person who took the photo was a someone who was exploring the country.

How is the subject represented in the photo? A boy who looks like he is having a lot of fun and playing with joy.

What kinds of messages are being conveyed? A boy who is playing, What it looks like in there country, and what they do in there country.

How do different parts of the image contribute to these messages? The materials that the boy is jumping on is like a Playground for the boy and background represents what they live in and the way that they live.

What if the photo was taken from a different angle or cropped differently? If you cropped out the background and it only had the boy you could add a playground and it could look like a boy playing on the playground, because he looks so happy.

Who might the intended audience be? The intended audience would be the boy playing in his country. And also having a lot of fun as well, but also boy might not be having fun too.

How might different groups of people respond to the image? They might say something different to us but also they might say the same thing as us as well, so I think that it would be the same thing too.

Astria Countdown to impact

Astria Countdown to Impact
WALT: Find and investigate about the texts that we have to find in the Game.
Today in our class we had to play a Game called Astria Countdown to impact. We had to try and make a plan to stop a Asteroid from hitting the planet Astria. to find out and investigate the texts, so we had to find 6 texts and then when we have found those 6 texts there is 3 rooms so you had to find two texts in each room.

Once we were finished finding the texts a lady sent us to a council room and we had to chose to between the Solar Sail, Nuclear bomb and the Connective impact. I chose Solar Sail because it wouldn't kill people, the reason why I didn't choose Nuclear bomb is because I knew that it would blow up the whole of space.

And the other reason why I didn't use the Connective Impact is because it could kill people but not as much people that have died in the Nuclear Bomb. I really liked this game because it was interesting to play but the thing that I didn't like about the game was there was too much reading to do and it was annoying to do.

Athletics Reflection

Athletics Reflection
WALT: Write a reflection about what we did!
On Friday 16th of November the whole school had Athletics day on the TPS field, I really enjoyed Athletics because I am a sporty person that likes to do Athletics. We did Standing Jump, Long Jump, Shot put, and Discus, I really liked Discus because it was easy for me to do and I through the Discus far.

The first sprint race that we did was the 400 meter race, and that was for the year's 5 to 8. I came 4th on my first race but on my second race I came third because I stepped into A hole, also I came second in Relays. What I found challenging was the sprint races because my legs kept hurting and I could barely walk after my races. I would like to work on my running skills by warming up before I run.

In our team houses our teacher would put points on our hands and that would represent the tokens that we got were because of the values that we showed at the Athletics day, After the races a there was free Ice blocks and sausage sizzles. While everyone was running people in the houses were cheering on for them.

The purpose of the Athletics day was so we can race and so when we win we can go into inter-schools and represent our school.BENGHAZI the house team that I am in won for this years Athletics and also last year we won as well. Also we won for the Chants too because we did the most new chants out of all the team houses.

Maths Session

Maths Session
WALT:Add and subtract decimals
Image result for mathsToday in Maths we were learning how to add and subtract decimals by working on our tasks. We were adding decimals and I felt that it was fun and exciting to do and also I found it easy to do the questions because I practised a lot and I helped some of my friends as well, also my friends helped me too do my questions.

Image result for mathsI felt that I needed to focus because sometimes I would forget that I'm doing maths and I would start to talk to my friends so that is why I feel like I need to focus on my work.

I really enjoyed doing Maths in my class and I would really like it if we got to do things like this for every maths session.

Weekly Quiz

Weekly Quiz
WALT: Use our prior knowledge
Today in the kia manawanui syndicate class we did a weekly quiz, our quiz was 15 questions and 5 visual questions so altogether it was 20 questions. I got 11 right altogether but if I knew all the questions and answers then I would write it up but no. I felt like I didn't to watch the news and I needed to research more too. And I definitely would watch new more too.

And I feel like I'm going to do better next time if I watch the new and research more too as well. And make sure to keep up on the NZ hub.

Nature Watcher

Nature Watcher
WALT:Dibate your ideas about thoughts whether you disagree or agree with statements

Today in my class we had to disagree or agree on a statement that we got and it was about pest and should keep them and respect them.

Here is my statement about Pests:

Dear Nature Watcher.

I strongly disagree with your statement,  I don't know why we should have more respect for pests because the pests in our Country are killing our natives animals and we are losing our natives. Also because of the pests that are living in our Country they spread diseases and it would also kill our Native plants and Trees that are native to our Country. I will not respect these pests that are coming to our Country and killing that Plants and Trees that are Native to our Country and our Natural Habitat, because we would not have any Trees and plant also we wouldn't have our Native animals in our Country.

So that is why I strongly disagree that we shouldn't have pests in our Country because of our Natural Habitat.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Manaiakalani Film Festival
WALA: The cluster schools videos and what they have been learning about in the classes!
Today was the day that the schools in the manaiakalani Film Festival went to the movies and watched video that other schools made.

I really liked the videos that the School cluster made but the schools that I mostly liked was my School and Pt England's because there videos were very interesting and funny. especially I liked there maker-space class because there video was so funny. Here is a link to the website and it is called the recycle-monster's gonna get you.

And If you would like to explore the manaiakalani website here is a link. When we were watching the videos on it was really dark in the cinemas and I couldn't see anything except for the big screen in front of me.

I am really excited for next year's manaiakalani film festival because this one was really funny and I enjoyed too. But the only thing that annoyed me was the traffic on the way to the cinemas and back and also when we couldn't find our buses because there were too many school at the manaiakalani film festival.

I also went onto the manaiakalani site and I've been writing some comments about the videos that they made our cluster schools.

Te Tuhi Reflection

Trip

to Te Tuhi
Here is a demonstration of Abstract art
Today we went to Te Tuhi where there is different types of arts and sculptures that are in the Art Gallery. The Kia manawanui syndicate went to Te Tuhi to do some Abstract art, firstly we got in the bus and we went to Te tuhi. When we got to Te Tuhi i was excited because I love coming to Te Tuhi, Then we went to go and wait for our instructor called Solome she has been working with us before. She walked us to the art room that we will be working in and she gave us a apron and we sat down.

After she introduced herself to the people who didn't know her she told what we will be doing. After a while we got started with our art, the first step was to write our names on the back of our cardboards, then we had to grab outlines and  the tools that we used to do this with is a pencil, paintbrush, ruler, outlines and paper. After we grabs the outlines we had four to trace and then we had to grab out ruler and draw lines on our papers two going down and two going sidewards.

Here is a demonstration of Abstract art
After doing that we had to get a vivid and trace all the lines and then paint our abstract arts. We had to use four colours and make sure not to make same colour next to each other. And then we had to dry our art then we had to we had to clean up around our area.

Once it was time to go we got to look at the different types of places that related to there art
Here are some photos of the arts around the gallery

~This piece of artwork on the left is made by a man who recreated the Tongan symbols

~This piece of artwork on the right is Jesus and it is made out of raw sugar and it took about 3-4 months to make.
`

I really enjoyed the Te Tuhi lesson because it helped me to be confident in abstract art because I never used o know how to do abstract art, and I really liked our instructor Solome because she was nice and she made us feel confident in our art class.

What is Technology?

What is Technology?
WALA: Our Technological World

Today in the kia manawanui syndicate we learnt about the different types of technology's we use every day, the first type of technology that we use on a daily basis is transportation technology, transportation technology is cars and vehicles that have gas in it to travel to places but there are some vehicles that don't run by gas such as bicycles that don't run by gas.

Another type of Technology that we use around in our daily basis is Digital Technology because it contains Phones, Computers, and other digital objects.

Enjoyed this lesson about the different types of Technology's because I got to understand what Technologies are which.

Duffy Assembly

Duffy Assembly
I really enjoyed going to the duffy assembly, There was a man named michel mulipola and he is famous for being a comic artist and he is samoan but lives in south auckland. And we didn't know he is even famous for being a wrestler and he has won many championships, he even got to meet some of his fans. I was amazed that he got to turn his dream into a job.

He loves to draw he is a really good drawer and he loves spiderman but his most full time favourite character is green lantern because green lantern is different to others. And as the superheros have plain like blue, red and yellow colours green lantern wears green, black and white so he was the one who wore different colours to the other superheros.

The thing that I liked about the assembly was that he had the confidence to go up on stage and be confident around children because I wouldn't be able to go up on stage, The thing that I disliked was that people were talking during the assembly and it made it hard for me to understand what Michel mulipola was saying.

I hope that Michel mulipola gets to come to our school again and he brings one of his metals.

Reading (Carra)

(Reading)
Yesterday in reading we got split into our groups for reading and I was in Ms Komor group. In Ms Komor's group she sent us a presentation to click on a site so we could read this text called Low Tide. The story was about this family the wife, Husband and a son with their Cat called Mikey, and there house was in a flood and the wife was at work when the son and father had to pack their things but also look for their cat Mikey.

I liked this text because it was interesting to read and it had a lot of figurative language in it such as “Mikey!” he called, searching the rooms before checking the back garden and then the front. No response. “Mikey!”. and in that text the highlighted part was using Onomatopoeia.

Maths

(Maths)
I really enjoyed this lesson of maths, in Maths we did a test about what we learnt. We had 4-6 problems to answer and most of the problems were related on what we did in the past few weeks such as improper fractions and proper fractions.

Image result for mathsI felt that this test helped me improve on Maths because when I first started I didn't know much about proper Fractions and improper fractions. I enjoyed doing maths because some of the problems were easy for me and some others were hard for me. And I really hope that we get another chance to do another test on maths because I really enjoyed the first one.

Trip to the Museum

✦Trip to the Museum✦
IALT:Write a reflection about the Museum trip!
I loved the trip to the museum. We met two instructors Wendy and Angelique. They taught us how to use the different types of tools, we got to play around with Virtual Reality, Green screen, 3D paint, Tinkercad and slow motion. Virtual reality would be my favourite because it felt like you were in space and you could draw in Virtual Reality. We also got to explore the volcano gallery, all the facts in the gallery were really interesting and the Earthquake room was really fun. But I really would of enjoyed it more if we got to explore other galleries around the Museum.
                                                                                                          Virtual Reality⤵
Then on Friday we had to make a video about our writing. Mine was Tsunami's For my video we used Tinkercad for our background then we put it into Virtual Reality and we drew a big wave over the city that we made in Tinkercad and clouds and a sun but we are finishing it of next time when Wendy and Angelique comes to us.
