What I think about Panmure:

My two safest places in panmure is home and Tamaki primary school. The reason why my home is my safest place in panmure is because it's my home and I trust everyone on my street and the reason why I think that tamaki primary school is a safe place in panmure is because I trust all the teachers in the school and I trust the students in the school.

Tennis Relfection

Tennis Reflection

Today for the last session of tennis in the kia manawanui syndicate we learnt to verse 1 person on each court. So each person got to go on each side of the net because we were versing 1 person at a time. Firstly Peter our instructor told us all the instructions and the instructions were to hit the ball not to hard and not to soft. You couldn't hit the ball to hard because it will go to far and if you hit the ball to softly it will not go past the net it will just go into the net. As we were versing each other we had to count our points so if the other person on the other side got it out, on the into the net or the other person got it out then the other person would get a point. Then Peter our instructor told us to swap over and Leilani my other team mate versed my friend called Coralee and they were versing each other. As they were playing I was counting up the scores and and so far my team was winning. The other team had 31 and my team had 49. Then after we were finished we had to sit down by the blue wall outside the courts and Peter told us about the Tennis team by dunkirk and he said that we could join it and it is a really cool opportunity for us to get better at tennis and we can get more fit doing it too. Then we packed up and put all the objects where it is then we went back to class.

Here are some questions from the session.

  1. How do you feel about Kiwisport this week? I feel that it was fun and more exercising for us. Why? Because you can get fit and if you know how to play it. It is more fun than trying to learn how to play Tennis.

  2. What parts of it did you like? When we got to verse the other person 1 on 1. Why? Because when we started to do tennis we had to work in a team and when we started we never got to do it and that was the only time that we did it. What parts of it do you need to work on? The part that I need to work on is trying to serve the ball because if it's my turn to serve I always serve it the other way instead of serving it to the person I am versing.

  3. What did you learn about Tennis this week? That you had to hit the ball not softly and not to hard but just right.

  4. Name at least 2 things that you need to improve on in Volleyball? The 2 things that I have improved on is having a growth mindset and working hard on trying to verse people.

  5. What would you like to do more of in our Tennis lessons? I wouldn't like to work more on anything because it is our last session of tennis.

Writing Lessons

Writing
IALA: Figurative Language

Similie

Everyday the kia manawanui syndicate class does writing. On our first session similes. I never knew what similes was but what I think similes is when you are using the words as or like to describe to different things. For example As boring as watching paint dry.

Metaphor

Then we did Metaphor. Metaphor is when you compare two dissimilar things. Dissimilar mean when you take out the dis it makes it similar and when you add dis it makes it dissimilar also dissimilar means different, unlike, unique.

Onamatopoeia

The next day we did Onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia means when you are using sound effects to your story to make it more interesting and it is a example of BANG!!! as the car drove through the tree.

Personification

Then when we were finished we did a type of figurative writing called Personification writing. Personification is when you are giving human qualities to nonhuman things.

Hypebole

Hyperbole is when you are using an exaggeration that is unlikely to be true. When I saw it I thought it was when you are repeating something but it is not the right one.

Alliteration

Alliteration means when most of the word in your story starts with the same letter but I personally thought that it means that you have to repeat something as well as.

Thank you for reading and please comment.

Self defense session

Last week the kia manawanui syndicate girls learnt self defense with a trustworthy lady named Julia. She taught us all the movements in self defense but mostly she talked about how to use our voices. Do self defense it is important.

Please comment on my blog and thank you for reading.

Trip to Tauranga

Tauranga

On the weekends me and my family went for a trip to Tauranga to a Marae called Mangatapu. Firstly we woke up at 6.00 in the morning and we left Auckland about 7.00 am. My nana hinemoa came down too but she went on a Kaumatua van with the other oldies that we're going down. The van left Orakei about 6.00 am .The crack up thing though is that my nans kaumatua van left at 6.00 and we left like 1 hour after them but we caught up to them at ngatea having a cup of tea. My dad had a korero with his whanau .Once he was finished he hopped back in the car and we carried on. The most satisfying thing on the trip is Paeroa because we got to stand in front of the original L&P made out of concrete. As we passed paeroa we came up to these huge mountains and beside the mountains there was fresh water flowing from the main water stream. As we turned up to tauranga we suddenly see the kaumatua van travelling past. My dad had to catch up and follow them towards the Marae. When we finally arrived at the marae we got ready and set for an important meeting to do with new homes. My siblings and I sat for 3 hours straight bored , tired and hungry waiting for the meeting to finish. After the meeting finished we had to wait out side the wharekai for a feed. As the wharekai was getting prepared the kids and I went and played on a park . Then finally we could go in and have a kai. My plate was full of vegetables , meet and desert afterwards.

Once we had finished our kai we packed up and traveled to my dads mates house so my dad can have a 1 hour rest. once he got his rest we made our way back to Auckland . As we were 30 minutes into our trip I fell asleep for about 1 hour and a half. When I woke my dad said "well stop over down here and have a walk okey ".We stopped at a cool as waterfall and walked down the it.The water looked very cold. My sibling named Mahara , Kahlicia and Taynah jumped in the waterfall at first they screamed because it was so cold but then they were bombing off a rock.My brother and sister were having a bomb competition I couldn't tell which one of them was big at all.I wanted to jump in but it was cold.I was walking around and my sister splashed me and I screamed at a high pitch. We stayed for about 1 hour the we left the site. We carried on and my sister made some sandwiches and we had another feed in the car on the way back. We stopped at the toilets in Paeroa for my brother to get change into dry clothes, then we finally made it back home.

It was about 8.00 pm when we got home.I enjoyed my trip down and up from Tauranga in fact it is my second time going down tauranga. I love tauranga because it is way different to Auckland because tauranga is countryside ,but Auckland is city side. I like the animals I seen down there especially the baby calves and the baby lambs. My highlight of the trip would have to be going down tauranga 2 times in a row per weekend.

Writing Session

Writing session
WAL:The meaning of 2 language features
Today in the kia manawanui syndicate class we did writing. Firstly we got out our integrated studies book and we learnt about the languages in figurative language and they were Personification and Onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is when you are using sound effects in stories or mostly comic books and that is a example of  the car went BANG as it flied throw the tree. And Personification is when you are comparing one thing that is human qualities and non-human things and putting it together to make a story example of the car howled through the night.
Then we had to share what have what we have learnt today.

And today we have learnt about what personification means because I never knew what personification means but now I do and also with Onomatopoeia.

Camp Raglan here we come!

Next term the kia manawanui syndicate is going to Camp Raglan. The year 7 & 8's seniors go every two years and it is a fun experience for the year 7 & 8's to go there. I can't wait to go there next term because I have never been there before and I get to do fun things there like I get to ride on the BMX track and there is a obstacle course that you can go on and it is called the confident course. And there is a place there where you can shoot a ear rifle into a bullseye. Not a real bulls eye it is called that because it is like a bulls eye but it is not. And when you go there you can get your own bed but it is a bunk bed so you have to share and the teachers that will be going with us they get to go in there own little rooms. And there is a really view of the beach and when you go there when you are a year 7 or 8 you are gonna love it and you are gonna enjoy it.

Every thursday the kia manawanui syndicate goes to technology at tamaki college. In technology there is different types of things you can do there such as Graphics, Wood works and Cooking. It is a really cool place that you can learn to make things so you make it at home such as in cooking you can make Vanilla Muffins.
